Christopher Mann's Alfa Romeo '8C Monza'

Shot alongside Proaction Creative as part of a documentary on design.

This beautiful blue Alfa Romeo 8C Monza isn’t just a pretty face so, naturally, it comes equipped with a rather interesting back story! Originally a dark red, Chris decided to repaint this 8C after being inspired by Hellé Nice, a female racing driver known for setting a new land speed record during the 1929 all-female Grand Prix at Autodrome de Montlhéry.

Nice was also known for her easily recognizable bright-blue race car and went on to be known as the “Bugatti Queen” She continued racing for both Bugatti & Alfa Romeo for several years whilst remaining as the only female on the grand prix circuit. So yes, she’s pretty cool!
